M2M - An Evolution in Communications

One of the main strengths of Comms365 is the fact that we have our own network.  Some people ask us what the benefit really is compared to renting space on another providers infrastructure.  The answer is simple and has been a driving force in the success of the business: Flexibility and End-to-end visibility.

If you are deploying an M2M project, the chances are that most, if not all the connections will be remote.  They may be in hard to reach, impractical areas, on vehicles, in a generator, on a roof or locked away in a water treatment plant’s store room.  With such a spread of end points, you need to ensure that the network provider has as much control over the SIMs as possible, so that, in the unlikely event something goes wrong, they can jump straight on it and find a resolution.

By managing our own network, we are in total control of everything as soon as the data traffic passes from the mobile network to our network via resilient interconnect points.  Comms365 provides the Internet Access (if that is part of the required service), the Radius Authentication, the Routing and Switching, the Call Data Records, the IP addressing (Public), or Private if taken with a VPN and all the management that goes with running a network 24/7/365. You can read more about with our M2M Case study.

By having this control, we are capable of building extremely complex and very clever customer networks that include not only mobile data, but also fixed line connectivity too, so M2M needn’t just be about SIMs.

Some examples of where our SIMs have been used in an M2M capacity:
